Our work & impact

Wellbeing Through Art

Funded by National Lottery Awards for All, for adults aged 40+. Wellbeing Through Art was Mindscape’s first funded proof point: a place to deliver, listen, learn and understand what participants wanted next. It is not the whole of what Mindscape is.

Everyone who completed an evaluation said they would attend another Mindscape programme and recommend it. With only nine responses, we treat these as encouraging early signals and as learning, not as proof of wider effect.

What people told us

Comments from participants’ evaluations. All seven digital respondents agreed to anonymous quotation.

“I loved that someone took the time to think about those who are simply missed.”

Connection

“Chance to foster safe relationships in safe place. Enjoy art as a release of emotions.”

Time for yourself

“I found it valuable to connect with others in a warm, caring space and to lose myself in the art for a short while.”

Getting out

“A lovely escape from the day to day.”

Needing it now

“Amazing space and idea which I really need in my life right now.”

What reaching people took

Some people travelled a long way on foot to take part, and several asked when the next sessions would run. Others said that committing to every session can feel daunting when leaving home is already hard.

What we are changing

  • Participants asked for more sessions, more often and over a longer period.
  • They wanted a wider range of materials and techniques.
  • Five of nine found the group size just right, and three found it a little small.
  • A convenient local venue and a regular day mattered.
  • Timing matters: school holidays and childcare affect who can take part.
  • Flexibility around commitment will shape how we design the next programme.

“Mindscape has been running craft sessions at our premises for the past three months. It is a very professionally run organisation and the staff and clients are always polite and considerate. The room is always left in spotless condition and we hope that Mindscape will continue to arrange activities using our premises.”
